Handmade Kitchen Sink Corner Slightly Bent? Here’s How You Can Fix This Minor Issue at Home

The handmade kitchen sinks that you receive today are made with high quality materials and craftsmanship, which gives them a high level of strength, an excellent finish, and many years of use in the modern kitchen.

When your handmade sink is shipped or transported from the manufacturer to your home, there are times when the sink creates some pressure from a corner that causes it to look slightly bent or above the line when it reaches you.

Most of the time, the slight bend or unevenness you see on your handmade sink is NOT a manufacturing defect, but a minor adjustment that can be easily fixed at home with little work on your part.

Why does this happen?

When your sink leaves the manufacturing facility to be shipped to your home, it will travel through several different handling stages (loaded onto trailer, unloaded off traileere is any pressure on the corner of your sink during the transporr, moved from truck to your home, and delivered to your home) If thtation of the sink to your home,

the stainless steel edge on the corner will appear to be slightly bent or misshaped.

To ensure that the handmade stainless steel corners of your sink can withstand the test of time and be decent strength and durability, they are designed with rounded corners

Although the handmade stainless steel corners of your sink give it strength and durability, the corner edges are capable of being slightly adjusted. So if you notice a bent or misshaped corner edge on your handmade sink, it is no reason to panic!

Is This Considered a Product Defect?
A defective product is usually associated with the presence of a crack, leak, welded damage, deep dent, or extensive damage to the item. If none of these exist, it’s usually because the product can be assessed as being slightly deformed or bent (from being transported) at one or both of its corners.

Typically, corner bends will not affect the quality, strength, drainage capacity, or overall daily use of a sink.

Fixing Your Sink’s Minor Corner Bend (At Home)
It is fairly simple to repair a minor corner bend to your sink at home.
All you need is a soft cloth as well as a basic tool (a pair of pliers) to perform the following repairs:

Step 1: Lay Your Sink Flat on the Floor
It is essential to lay your sink flat on the floor. Doing this allows you to inspect how far out of alignment that the bent corner has moved.

Step 2: Inspect the Bent Corner
Carefully inspect the corner of your sink that appears slightly bent in order to determine if it has shifted inward or outward.

Stage 3: Shield the Corner with Dry Material
Regardless of the material used for the tool, do not make contact with the surface of the sink. Place a dry material such as cotton or microfiber cloth over the damaged corner to provide a barrier against any scratching occurring when making adjustments.

Stage 4: Carefully Mould using Pliers
Once you have placed dry material over the corner make sure you hold onto the dry material with your pliers. Slowly and gently mould the damaged corner of the sink to fit correctly. Apply only a small amount of pressure if possible and make multiple small moulds then check each time after you have created an adjustment see how straight the corner is before creating another adjustment.

Stage 5: Verify/ Repeat Evaluation of Adjustments
Once you have completed your 1st adjustment put the sink down on the flat surface and check to see if the corner is now straight, but only re-adjust if you think necessary. Once the corner is straight you do not create any more adjustments.

Important Safety Reminders
Always use a dry cloth between the tool and the surface of stainless steel.

Do not apply too much pressure.
Never attempt to repair major dents, cracks or leaks at the house or repair work that requires welding.

Contact the manufacturer if you do not feel confident about repairing the sink yourself prior to installing it.

After you have properly adjusted or aligned your sink in your countertop, it is time to place the sink on top of the countertop area so that you can check the proper fitting position of the sink in relation to the countertop.

Once you are certain that no major damage to the sink location exists and that the sink is seated properly without any leaks then you can continue with the normal installation process.

A small adjustment to the sink will not impact the sink’s performance or durability or use during everyday activity.
